Snow today,. Real snow on the ground so no running for a third record in a row. In fact I'd say the last two days would be it until after the winter as far as good times go.

Tommy, Margie's cat phoned up last night at 3am. Apparently Margie went to sleep with her phone open and the cat managed to speed dial by holding down the 3 button. Here's the photographic evidence.

Had pizza with angie and Erik for tea and watched survivor.

  Broke my 7km record 28'35. 4:05 per km. That's a 20'25 5km for those keeping track.
Tuesday, October 21, 2003
Broke my 10km record today 43'15. Pretty good 4'18.50 per km all the way.

Went for a run today after work with Erik and ran my fastest 1km not down a hill 4'01. Put up another couple of framing in around a duct.

Had a sleep in and did a bit of work in the basement putting up the last wall. Watched some of LoTR before Jeff came and took a look at the framing before the inspector just to check everything is looking ok.

Busy day in the basemnent with Erik. Got most of the rest of the walls up before going down to dinner at BP's with Angie.

Worked until midday then borrowed a work truck bought some wood and dropped it off at home. Returned the truck and then went back to town and bought an ankle brace and picked up the building permit.

Went up to the school and played basketball with Tony, Erik and Pat S. until Tony hurt his ankle. Went home showered up before tea with Pat S. and Deb, their friend who's name escapes me Erik and Margie.

Went to Keyano College's production of "Brighton Beach Memoires". Not a bad play really but still a play. I find them a bit diffficult to watch because, like figure- skating, you're always just wondering if they are going to make a mistake.

Cold today because of the snow but managed to get out for a run. Ankle is still not totally healed but i can turn corners at least. Watched survivor.

Snow again today but more this time and it stayed on the ground for most of the morning. It was cold going for a run and I might just about have to invest in some new running pants. The last ones are almost in pieces. Followed up my run with a walk with Angie and even in my winter jacket and snow pants it was cold.

More real snow today. Some even stayed on the ground for a few minutes thenit turned to rain and it all went away. If you like snow it is good news for the rest of the year if you don't like snow it is very bad news. If it continues the kids will be out in their Hallowe'en costumes all covered up in winter jackets.

Drove back home. Nothing to report from the trip. Didn't even see any creatures out and about.

Went for a run first thing then went over to Rob's and did painting for most of the day.

Angoie cooked up the thanks-giving dinner which was very tasty and plentiful. Mike Margie's new fellow was there for the first big meeting of all the family and seemed to come through fairly unscathed.

Debbie and Jerry were at Jerry's great aunts funeral and only arrived back from Calgary just as Rob, Tricia and the two of us were on our way out to "School of Rock" starring Jack Black.

The movie was splendid and worth watching. A couple of clunky moments but nothing too terrible.

Had a family brunch this morning then went over to Rob and Val's house to do some painting etc. Got a fair bit done but still a little for tmorrow morning.

Rob showed me anb interesting find from his house. Apparently down in the basement there was a pot hidden in the rafters that had some oil, what looked to me like some underpants and several unworked horse-shoes. If you can think of any possible reason for this aggregation yput imagination is better than mine.

Went to Chilli's for tea and got some Baskin Robin's icecream for desert.

Drove down to Edmonton this afternoon with MArgie, Tricia and Thomas the catatonic cat. Stopped to get a milkshake in Grasslands and met a lovely farming couple, well they were parked next to us but they insisted on chatting. I couldn't actaully understand what the woman was saying buy apparently she made a joke involving the "I've got your nose" hand movement. Strange.

Got in to Edmonton and went directly to Rob's new house and did a bit of sanding and so forth. Painting starts in the last few rooms tomorrow.

Came back to Bob and Pat's and then went for tea at "Red Robbin".

Spent a wee bit of time admiring all the points my Colorado Avalanche guys scored in hockey last night.

Went for a 12km run tonight. The ankle was ok but I iced it afterwards just to be safe.

Watched Survivor with Erik and Margie and got stuff ready to go down to Edmonton for the Thanks-Giving weekend. I've got some painting lined up to do with Rob and Angie is cooking up a meal for Sunday.

Not a lot to report from today. Had a super long day at work and just about only got home in time to go to bed. A slight exageration but that's how it felt.

Hockey season started and the poools are rolling. It will be fun to be doing that again. Ben and Steve are also doing it along with Bob Rob and me.

Ran a 10 km and am officially cured of my sore ankle. Actually I'm not as I can't really turn corners with confidence yet buy I'm getting there.

Went for tea with Pat and Bob then home to watch "Bend it Like Beckham" which was very good. Good tale, the crickety bit at the end was a bit budget but other than that excellent.

Back to work today running around putting together a proposal for a huge apartment complex here in town.

Went for the first run after spraing my ankle last Wednesday. Felt pretty good so I'll give it anothe try tonight before launching back into my punishing schedule. Actually it isn't that punishing but I do cover about 50-60 km/week.

Repaired the indicators on the car.

Guys came at last to put up trellis-work around the bottom of our house only 1.5 years behind schedule, but there you go, that's the trades in Fort McMurray for you. To top it off we didin't get trellis-work either we actually got plywood instead. At least it is greenish and not too ugly.

I was out mowing the lawn when they showed up and I happened to be wearing my Casman Construction (the company I work for) t-shirt. The father of the father-son team also worked for Casman and thought I must have been some big-wig to work up in Gregoire so I got extra good service. I built a little hideaway for the lawn mower and the guy cut out the plywood for me and even put it in position all I had to do was attach my hinges.

Went for Brunch with Pat and Bob and then came home and did a little fixing up to my car's indicators. I have a bulb out whic I will have to replace.

Did a little bit of work in the basement and watched some telly.

I guess I should have said "not much to report" and left it at that.

A busy day today but very productive.

Worked until 3:30 then sped off to Albert Permit Pro to see if my permit for renovating the basement was ready. It wasn't, no surprises there. Bought some paint from Walmart to paint a few spots on my car but got a bit carried away and ended up sanding the whole bonnet and several other places before buying another two cans and spraying away. Pretty good result in the end, $20 spent but looks about 100times better.

Went back home and Angie and I went to Subway but she ran out of time and had to leave for scrapbooking so I tok my sub down to the carpark of Canadian tyre and ate it there before going in and buying some plumbing fittings and a reciprocating saw.

Went home and set to work getting the shower all sorted out and in the right place so that tomorrow we (Erik and me) can complete the framing.

Got a nice $60 cheque from Syncrude today. Apparently they had miscalculated our shift premium??? All I can say is its the job that keeps on paying.

Well I have a pretty impressive looking bruise on my foot/ankle. Looks much worse than it really is. I should be able to run on it tomorrow evening but I'll see how it goes.

Watched Survivor and had some not very tasy pizza for dinner with Angie and Erik.

Hot today considering we've already had snow. It got up to 20 and it is supposed to be hotter today. Not really hot-hot but for around here in October it is fairly unseasonal.

The shops are getting full of sweets for Hallowe'en now so I'm hoping one or two will start showing up at work.

Worked then decided to play basketball with Erik rather than going for a run. Not the smartest move as I turned my ankle badly when I stood on his foot. Hopefully it will be ok for running tomorrow but we'll see in the morning.

Learned a few new tricks for the web-site this evening check out Bob's birthday
