Went to Edmonton for the weekend without much seriously planned but raced around anyway doing this and that.
On Friday we got down there arriving at about 1930 with plans to go with Rob and Val and one of their friends to dinner. Rob and Val had just got back from England and Spain and they were going to recount their tales over as tasty meal.
We didn't quite make it out for dinner so Rob and I went to "Tim Horton's", Canada's most popular fast foody sort of place. It is mostly about the donuts and coffee but they also have some other things like say chicken stew bread bowls. I ordered this. Not only did they not have any stew, they also didn't have any bread bowls or chilli either so I had to settle for a sandwich only they didn't have any bread!!!

What kind of chain store outlet runs out of everything. One thing maybe but almost everything on the menu. I could pass it off as an aberatrion but I'm sorry to say it is not the first time for such an experience at Tim Horton's. Damn you Tim Horton's and your enticing advertisements. As a chain you're just a tease.

We went to Taco Belle.

Saturday Bob and Pat went and bought a new Mazda Protege5 and we happened to meet them for lunch in the mall where we had a spirited discussion about tire inflation pressures before Bob and me went over to Rob and Val's new House to chuck out some rubbish. We took a trip to the dump.

First we stopped off at a scrap metal place which have two big skips out the front when they are closed, for dropping off scrap metal. There were two old chaps there waiting to pounce on anything good thrown away. They were sort of like fishermen, quietly waiting in their vehicles for a bite then leaping into action as soon as anything happened. They even had a story about how one time one of them got $186 out of a tumble drier.

Nice way to spend your Saturday afternoon. When we got back Angie and me went to Debbies's for dinner.

Sunday we just went to the mall and looked about. Sunday night w went to Mauria Palace for dinner with Rob and Val and Jamie and Erik. To my tastes not as nice as English currie's but ok.

Monday morning we went to Ikea did a little shopping about and bought nothing except some efficient
  Swedish meat balls for lunch.

Drove Pat's new car home.

Jasmine was a little stinky when we picked her up and so I had to shower her when we got home. It was a pretty impressive mess see the photographs

Mid-week and no sign of a crocodile or sticky cat ( see Phyllshkstory"). In fact all I've seen is big fat looking crows hanging around rubbish bins blowing huge clouds of vapour out their noses.

That said it is obviously winter here now. We've had about a week of -10c and it will be getting seriously cold soon I should imagine. I'm still running about 40 km per week but it is much harder running with the reduced traction and the heavy sweat soaked clothes to cart around.

Actually I must admit to not being entirely honest about the lack of animals, last night I put Jasmie out before bed and had to use an extremely stern voice to stop her chasing after a coyote who was wandering around at the back of the house. Her hackles were up as high as I've seen them. She was ready for action.

Well it has been over a week since I last posted and the reason why can be summed up as "daylight savings is a big rip-off as it robbed me of my daylight". That and the arrival of the cold weather really meant not much went on but a short recap follows.

Lasty weekend I put the finishing touches on the framing in the basement. Used the Hilti gun and some lumber-lock to stick it all down and took a photo or two which I'll post soonish. Other than that last weekend was fairly uneventful. The week as I mentioned earlier on was five days of going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. What happned to the daylight that was saved? Seriously though, where did it go?

Did some roleplaying on Wednesday night with Pat S and Erik which was good. I hope it continues because I miss being able to worship the devil on a regular basis and in a structured environment.

Friday was Hallow'een and I've posted a few pictures already including a nice dancing image of Erik.

Spent the first part of Saturday morning dealing with a puncture I must have got on Friday night and the second part working out how to do the wiring in the basement before Erik arrived and we had gastly chinese food and watched Pulp Fiction.

This morning my car wouldn't start so I had to get a new battery and for the third car related item I blew the fuse in my windshield wipers because they were frozen in ice and stuck to the front window.

Had lunch at Tony Roma's with Pat, Bob and Margie then went and bought a few electrical supplies for the wiring which I hope to do this week in 1 hour bursts. Not all of it but the modifications to the existing circuits next weekend we are in Edmonton but the weekend after that it will be full-on wiring time.

Baked a fairly boring banana bread
